1. Arbus – Montevecchio Mine

The Montevecchio Mine is one of the largest mining complexes in Sardinia and allows visitors to learn every aspect of life in a lead and zinc mine. The site is divided into two different visitable areas (Guspini and Arbus):

Arbus Area: it hosts the Montevecchio Guesthouse which dates back to 1930. Today, it houses the Montevecchio Mine Mineralogy Museum and the Diorama Museum on the History of Mining through the Ages (Prof. Enrico Dellaca's Collection). The Diorama Museum includes a collection of miniature dioramas depicting scenes of life and work within the mines throughout history. This educational experience stimulates curiosity and imagination, engaging adults and children alike. The Museum of Mineralogy displays a vast collection of specimens from the Montevecchio and Ingurtosu mines, as well as other sites in Sardinia, and around the world, also enriched by fossils and rare geological formations.

- The only mining diorama museum in Sardinia.

Useful information:

Opening days and hours: from July 1st to the first Sunday of October, open daily from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM and from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM. During other periods, open by reservation for groups of at least 10 people
