The Museum of Mining Art is located in the underground level of the "Asproni" Mining Institute of Iglesias. The museum houses the equipment for transporting the material, the explosives and the machines used for excavation and drilling. The exhibition is aimed at documenting and illustrating the world of mining in Sardinia and also includes an important collection of vintage photographic material, minerals, replicas and scale models that have made the history of mining. The journey continues with the reconstruction of a small mechanical workshop and a visit to a flotation plant for the treatment of minerals. The highlight of all the exhibits on display is a mechanical vehicle known as the T2GH "Montevecchio” mechanical shovel, conceived and designed in Sardinia and exported all over the world. The purpose of the museum is to testify and make available to the general public what was one of the largest mining cultures in the world.
